Marcia Maddox has been a trial attorney for over 25 years, focusing solely on Family Law since 1983. Prior to law school, she worked in the White House as an Assistant Press Secretary to Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson. Mrs. Maddox was associated with Betty A. Thompson in Arlington , Virginia for nearly ten years prior to establishing her own practice.  She has represented clients on every issue found within family law, and she frequently is retained in conjunction with international family law cases being litigated both here and all over the world.  Through her international work, Mrs. Maddox has traveled to the United Kingdom for the purpose of assisting UK solicitors and barristers with litigation preparation where there have been issues involving both Virginia and the United Kingdom.

Mrs. Maddox has argued before the Virginia Supreme Court and the Virginia Court of Appeals. Mrs. Maddox has argued and prevailed in a precedent setting child support case before the Virginia Court of Appeals, clarifying the law in that area. She has also argued and recently prevailed in a complex equitable distribution case in the Virginia Court of Appeals. She has lectured to numerous groups on the subject of family law, including Breaking Unlawful Agreements; Battered Women's Syndrome at the Association of Trial Lawyers of America 2001 Annual Meeting. She has also lectured at Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Seminars, Virginia Bar Association Family Law Seminars, the National Business Institute regarding Virginia Divorce Litigation, and Virginia 's Continuing Legal Education program on Domestic and Tax/Bankruptcy Related Issues.

Mrs. Maddox is the President of the USA Chapter of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (IAML) as well as a member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Governors of the IAML.  She previously served on the Nominating Committee of the IAML. Mrs. Maddox is also a Certified Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She has served on the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Board of Governors. Additionally, she is a member of approximately 8 different law and family law organizations, and is active in the Fairfax Bar Association. She has been appointed as a neutral case evaluator for the Fairfax County Circuit Court, where she evaluates divorce and property matters; she has also functioned as a court appointed Guardian ad Litem.  Mrs. Maddox graduated from Smith College where she received a B.A. in government, and she received her J.D. (cum laude) from the Washington College of Law, American University . She is the mother of two daughters.

Mrs. Maddox is included in  The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Family Law.  She has also been selected as one of the Top 25 Female Lawyers in Virginia in the Virginia Super Lawyers 2006 magazine.
