Marcia Maddox has been a trial attorney for over 25 years, focusing solely on Family Law since 1983. Prior to law school, she worked in the White House as an Assistant Press Secretary to Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson. Mrs. Maddox was associated with Betty A. Thompson in
Mrs. Maddox has argued before the Virginia Supreme Court and the Virginia Court of Appeals. Mrs. Maddox has argued and prevailed in a precedent setting child support case before the Virginia Court of Appeals, clarifying the law in that area. She has also argued and recently prevailed in a complex equitable distribution case in the Virginia Court of Appeals. She has lectured to numerous groups on the subject of family law, including Breaking Unlawful Agreements; Battered Women's Syndrome at the Association of Trial Lawyers of
Mrs. Maddox is the President of the USA Chapter of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (IAML) as well as a member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Governors of the IAML. She previously served on the Nominating Committee of the IAML. Mrs. Maddox is also a Certified Fellow of the
Mrs. Maddox is included in The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Family Law. She has also been selected as one of the Top 25 Female Lawyers in Virginia in the Virginia Super Lawyers 2006 magazine.
